15/12/2008   City banker acquitted of manslaughter -

Christopher Liddard, accused of the manslaughter of a Thames Riverboat Captain was acquitted by unanimous verdict of the jury following a two week trial.  The evidence in the case was intimately concerned with the question of causation where death was due to a heart attack.  Andrew Campbell-Tiech QC led for the defence in a trial where the prosecution had originally charged the defendant with murder.    The jury could not agree their verdict in relation to his brother Andrew Liddard, who faces a retrial.
